Today's Devotion
"See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!" (1 John 3:1).

Father in heaven's love for you is extravagant!

The Bible shows us the kind of father God is.
  • He loves little children: "In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father's will that even one of these little ones should perish" (Matthew 18:14).
  • He is compassionate: "You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate" (Luke 6:36).
  • He knows your needs: "These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs" (Luke 12:30).
  • He is happy you are in His kingdom: "So don't be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom" (Luke 12:32).
  • He is full of mercy: "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies..." (2 Corinthians 1:3a, NASB).
  • He is a comforter: "...God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction..." (2 Corinthians 1:3b-4a, NASB).
  • If you know how Jesus lived and loved, you have seen what Father in heaven is like: "Philip said to Him, 'Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.' Jesus said to him, 'Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father...'" "I and the Father are one" (John 14:8-9a; John 10:30, NASB).
  • He seeks you to be His worshipper: "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers" (Luke 12:32).

"Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently)" (Romans 8:20-25).
The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.
