Today's Devotion
"I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me..." (John 10:28).

As believers in Jesus Christ we have eternal life! Yet we doubt and worry and fret about our security in Christ for eternity.

I read about a man who bragged that he had cut off the tail of a man-eating lion with his pocket knife. Asked why he hadn't cut off the lion's head, the man replied, "Someone had already done that."

You can take the enemy by the tail because Jesus has defeated him and you have eternal life! He has already destroyed death, we can boldly face our fears through the truth given us.

"And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:11-14, NASB).

Not only has God secured eternal life for us, but he secures us in it.

Look at Jesus' strength to preserve us:

Job 17:9 says: "The righteous will move onward and forward, and those with pure hearts will become stronger and stronger."

Isaiah 54:17 tells us: "'No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their vindication is from Me,' declares the LORD."

"If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you. If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs. But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!" (1 Peter 4:14-16).
The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.
